Professional recognition

Approved members may receive a membership certificate and authorised digital membership badge or designation, subject to BARA’s branding and usage rules.

Members may also choose to be included in BARA’s professional directory, subject to eligibility, consent and the applicable directory policy.

Access to developing resources relating to evidence appraisal, clinical governance, consent, conflicts of interest, patient safety, responsible innovation and professional standards.

A voice in BARA’s development

​

Voting membership is based on the principle of one member, one vote.

Higher membership fees, sponsorship, donations, professional seniority or commercial relationships do not provide additional voting power or preferential influence. 

Members may contribute to the development of BARA’s educational priorities, scientific programmes and professional activities through participation, consultation and formal voting where applicable.

Membership and professional independence

​

BARA maintains a clear separation between professional membership, scientific decision-making and commercial support. No sponsor, donor, clinic, manufacturer or commercial partner may control BARA’s governance, scientific conclusions, educational content, editorial decisions or professional standards.

​

Members are expected to declare relevant financial, commercial, scientific and professional interests and to comply with BARA’s conflict-of-interest and professional-independence policies.

​

Important information

BARA membership does not constitute:

​

• clinical accreditation;

• certification of professional competence;

• regulatory approval;

• approval of a treatment, device, product or service;

• endorsement of a member’s professional claims or clinical practice.

​

Membership confirms participation in BARA’s professional community only and must not be represented otherwise.

​

Founding Membership

​

Founding Member status recognises approved members admitted during BARA’s establishment and formal launch period.

​

It is a historical distinction only and does not provide ownership, additional voting rights, permanent office, preferential scientific influence or exemption from BARA’s membership requirements.
